Firt off the picutres aren't developed yet, i'll get thoes up ASAP.
Remember what I said about that my trip likely being a bad idea, I was right, but it was fun.
I took my time to get up to the booth on Sat. 5 hours counting stops. I could have made it in 2 and half but I was in no hurry. I got up at 6am took my one (and only one blanket) and straped it my my handle bars then I hooked up my WWII ammo bags that I was using as saddle bags tossed in some water, cheese, salami, and bread and I hit the road.
We stoped and ate along the way. In Baker I filled up on gas and while I was doing that someone stole my gloves. This was not a good thing since the sun was out in full and it was bound to be cold at night, but the trip must go on.
The dirt/sand road to the booth was the hardest ride i've ever done. My average speed was 20mph or about 33kph any faster I quickly found out was sucidial. This road is most hard packed dirt with about a half inch of loose dirt on top but is some place which are difficult to spot there is no hard base to the road. If you hit these spots with any speed you may as well not have handle bars for all the control you have over you stering. I managed to not lay the bike down but it took an hour and a half on the way in. The way out only took about 45 min because I knew the road better and I had learned how to cope with the conditions.
As for who called the booth, I'd say about half of France, all of Canada and everywhere in between. We even got a call from some guy on a boat 150 miles off the coast of Alaska in a FISHING BOAT!! There was one other guy by the name of Mark at the booth when me and my SO got there. He had one of them fancy-smanchy 4 wheeled vehicles :). He left once to get firewood and came back. He was supposed to be spending the weekend there. He decided to go on a beer run after a while so we pitched in. He left some chairs and other stuff there and left with my SO's money and never came back (the asshole), but we figgure he left firewood so we didn't have to burn any cow crap, the trade was good enough. Well to make this already long story short. I'm sunburnt on my face and hands (somewhat severly) We froze our asses off during the night and we had to take the phone off the hook just to get some sleep. If it rings you feel this strange compulsion to answer it even at 4am. The bike barely made it home the air filter was so cloged.
Oh yea, and there was some Harley thing in Nevada that was over and there was hundreds of HD's on road with us on the way home. Nothing makes you Savage feel samller than when the Hell's Angles pass you by.
I get the pictures up somewhere soon. Where I don't know, feel free to throw out some ideas.
